Open Studio Days at The Katy Dove Archive, Book your Place
November 2023, Dumfries, Scotland
We invite you to join an open day at the Katy Dove Archive - an occasion to encounter the artist's expansive body of work and celebrate the launch of a digital artwork library. Alongside the opportunity to delve into the depths of Katy’s prolific drawing, painting, print and animation collections, the open day will present works selected from the archive by her collaborators and friends. A programme of Katy’s moving image work and animations will be installed in a screening space adjacent to the studio, and there will also be a drop-in slide-making and projection activity between 12-4pm each day, inspired by outcomes of former workshops run by Katy. All ages are welcome, and the slide-making activity will be family friendly.
Lastly, we are excited to launch Hazel - a new posthumous print edition, produced by Glasgow Print Studio, at the open day. Hazel features a still from Katy’s 2005 animation Amanda printed on hemp archival paper in an edition of 30, and will be available to purchase on the day and going forward. Other screen prints and original works will also be available for sale (on enquiry).
This event is organised by the Artists' Estate, led by Emma Dove, and Curator, Laura Plant, with Art360 Foundation as part of an archival programme supported by Creative Scotland. Art360 has worked with the Katy Dove Estate to develop the artists' archive and legacy since 2019.
